    Starcraft 2 Zerg Units Overview

An Overview of Starcraft 2 Zerg Units

    Zerg Hydralisk

Considered by many to be the best all around assault unit in classic Starcraft, the needle spine launching Hydralisk will be returning to Zerg battlefields in Starcraft 2. Evolved from "slothien" (a caterpillar-like creature), the Hydralisk can burrow and works well in packs. Enemy Terran players would be smart to bring siege support into any fray featuring a large group of Hydra's.

    Zerg Mutalisk

Since the end of the Brood Wars the Mutalisk has evolved very little. These masters of the Zerg hit and run attack remain an extremely effective all-purpose air unit, relying on the multi-hit glave wurm attack for extra potency against groups of enemies. Rumored to be capable of deep space flight, Mutalisks will undoubtedly be featured in Zerg air rushes as in times past.

    Zerg Baneling

One of the first new Zerg units to be introduced for Starcraft 2, the Zerg baneling is a fluid-filled ground unit capable of astonishing amounts of explosive damage. When a baneling nears an enemy unit, a chemical reaction is triggered that causes it to explode with devastating force, showering the surrounding area with a searing acid, destroying the Baneling in the process.
